Join me in creating the world we need and deserve. Help us ensure our most public community members are safer and more supported as they step more boldly into visibility as Mirror Memoirs survivor storytellers.

I’m Ecat, a nonbinary mixed-race abolitionist community organizer, policy nerd, and aspiring writer. I'm so proud to be on the Board of Mirror Memoirs, as a survivor of child sexual abuse who has been so deeply supported by this beautiful mycelial network of survivors and accomplices.

Child sexual abuse is one of the most common experiences and yet one of the most stigmatized. That is especially true for those of us living at the margins of oppression. I didn’t feel like my story was safe to share until I saw another queer survivor of color share their testimony so openly and honestly. Being connected to this incredible network was life-changing and affirming for me, at a time when I felt so lost in my own pain and didn't know if I could keep going. Our stories shed light and offer space for others to come forward and be witnessed if they choose. Our stories hold wisdom - about how to survive, how to support each other, how to build the world we deserve. The things we've survived could fracture us and have threatened to, but they can also give us deep insights, tools, and magic.

Mirror Memoirs has been gathering the stories of QTIBIPOC childhood sexual abuse survivors to share with the rest of the world at a time where transphobia is on the rise and threatening a whole new generation of trans and gender non-conf youth. They've got an audio archive where people have bravely recorded their experiences and a theater performance called “Transmutation: A Ceremony.” For the QTIBIPOC survivors who've participated in these projects, they're now ready to step into the national limelight to talk about what survivors actually need for healing.

We’re at a moment of overwhelming and intersecting fights - the attack on trans children, on Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, on body autonomy. Your support of Mirror Memoirs will help us fight back against rape culture, racial violence, and violence against queer and trans people.

Stories are seeds - they carry medicine, memory, and magic. And the space that taught me these lessons in the most profound way is Mirror Memoirs. Please donate to support their incredible work and helping the seeds of Mirror Memoirs spread far and wide!
