For my 30th birthday, I dream of a world without rape culture and borders

For my 30th birthday, I dream of a world without rape culture and borders, where LGBTQIA folks who are survivors may have access to all the care they need, and have their survival needs fulfilled.

Last year I raised $1,000 in of funds through selling signed copies of my children's book "The Ocean Calls" for Mirror Memoirs' mutual aid fund to support the survival needs of two-spirit, trans, non-binary survivors of child sexual abuse during the covid-19 pandemic. This year, on my 30th birthday, the greatest gift you can give to me (if it's within your financial capacity) is to help me raise an extra $3,000 to make the total to be $4,000. Help us support queer and trans survivors' well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mirror Memoirs is a national, abolitionist storytelling + organizing nonprofit project intervening in rape culture by uplifting the healing and leadership of Two Spirit, transgender, non-binary, intersex and queer Black, Indigenous, and of color survivors of child sexual abuse

Mirror Memoirs is founded by my dear friend Amita Swadhin who has inspired my deeply. They are a queer South Asian educator, storyteller, activist and consultant dedicated to fighting interpersonal and institutional violence against young people. It is co-lead by Jaden Fields: an LA-born queer Black femme transboi, community activist, and poet. Mirror Memoirs is an oral history project centering the narratives, healing and leadership of LGBTQ survivors of color in the movement to end child sexual abuse. The money raised in this fundraiser will go directly toward the Mirror Memoirs mutual aid fund.

The fund awards $500 grants to Two Spirit, transgender, intersex and/or non-binary Black, Indigenous or of color survivors of child sexual abuse. Within this demographic, we will prioritize individuals who have been Core Members of our project (those who have coded our archive, led trainings and healing circles, and generally helped shape our organizational structure and strategic priorities), survivors who have shared their story in the Mirror Memoirs audio archive, and folks who have attended a Mirror Memoirs event (in-person or virtual). We will further prioritize applications from folks who are Black, Indigenous, disabled, immunocompromised, undocumented, unemployed, unhoused or precariously housed, and/or uninsured. However, our applications will be open to ALL Two Spirit, transgender, intersex and/or non-binary Black, Indigenous or of color survivors of child sexual abuse.

If you or someone you know meets the criteria above, or if you or someone you know would like to be connected to Mirror Memoirs' work in general, and is not yet on the Mirror Memoirs email list (there is a tiered membership, anyone who wants to co-create a world without child sexual abuse can join the email list), they can complete our member survey here (note: the survey is actually open to ANYONE who wants to help co-create a world without child sexual abuse).

All donations are tax-deductible, and I really appreciate your support!
