Mirror Memoirs Holiday Celebration
Our Joy Is Resistance: Celebrate With Us!
A Celebration of Our Growing Network
As we approach three years of pandemic life, we remain clear that our relationships in community are our most important resource. Our network of child sexual abuse survivors and those who love and support us has made so much possible even in a time of escalating genocidal, fascist violence against our members who are transgender, non-binary, intersex and/or queer Black, Native and of color people.
In this context, each moment of joy in our togetherness is truly an act of resistance.
Come revel with us at our virtual holiday party on Thursday, December 15 (8:00-9:30pm EST / 5:00-6:30pm PST)!
The evening will feature performances by Brooklyn-based Sonny Singh and LA-based Def Sound, lessons on mycology and mycelium by queer Peruvian farmer and herbalist Loba, a trivia game and so many raffle prizes! The raffle works on a donation basis, as follows:
- $0-14: 1 ticket
- $15-49: 2 tickets
- $50-74: 3 tickets
- $75-124: 4 tickets
- $125 or more: 5 tickets
Just reserve your free ticket, and then make a donation via this event page if you want to purchase more tickets. We have over 20 prizes this year, so you have a great chance of winning! (To see all the raffle prizes, follow us on Instagram or Facebook.)
As for the "dress code," come in PJ's or in your holiday best, with a beverage of choice in hand.
All proceeds from this event will support our new Sustainability Fund, allowing us to meet our evolving needs as the political landscape continues to rapidly shift. Some immediate expenses we hope to fund include: hiring a disability justice HR consultant and a language justice consultant to keep our work internally and externally accessible, purchasing new laptops as our staff expands, and furnishing our first-ever office!
And please consider becoming a paid Member of the Mirror Memoirs network with a monthly recurring pledge of $5 or more. This year, thanks to two generous donors, if we reach 50 new or renewed monthly donors, we will receive a matching gift of $5,000. If we reach 100 new or renewed monthly donors, we will receive a matching gift of $10,000! Monthly recurring pledges will also support our Sustainability Fund. Make your pledge at: mirrormemoirs.networkforgood.com
This event will be captioned, with ASL and Spanish interpretation.
We will send a Zoom link to all who register for this event. No purchase is necessary to attend, but we encourage you to buy your ticket at the highest level you can afford.
[description of image by artist Donovan Vim Crony: A Black queer person with green hair, red antlers is holding a wine glass and wearing a yellow, sleeveless top, gray pants ripped at the knee and striped gray socks. They are leaning on the Mirror Memoirs logo which is strung with colored lights, and have a laptop open in front of them showing nine different people in a video conference call. A string of pink, blue, yellow and green colored lights hangs above them. In the top left corner, a red box with light blue letters reads "Raffle Prizes & Performances." On the right, a teal circle with spiked edges contains yellow text "ASL, Spanish Interpretation & Captioning Provided". Green letters under the logo read "Virtual Holiday Party," followed by red letters "Thursday, December 15, 5:00-6:30pm PST / 8:00-9:30pm EST." Tall triangles in the shape of pine trees or mountains line the bottom of the image in dark green, pink, red, gold and green.]
