In Los Angeles: The CA Endowment
Virtually: on Whova
10:00AM (1:00PM EDT) Welcome & Opening Performance
By building a world where LGBTQIA+ BIPOC children are safe - we will create a world where every child is safe. But what does that world look like, what do these children need, and how do we get there?
10:30AM (1:30PM EDT) Morning Plenary
10 years ago, Mirror Memoirs was born from the vulnerability of the 73 survivors who shared their stories in our audio archive. During this panel, we will be releasing our Audio Archive Report - breaking down the learnings from the project that is the foundation of our work, and the frame it presents for how to end this violence without leaving any children behind.
12:00PM (3:00 PM EDT) Lunch & Fireside Chat with Funders
1:00 PM (4:00 PM EDT) Afternoon Plenary
Mirror Memoirs has transformed lives of BIPOC LGBTQ+ survivors who, for the first time, find belonging, leadership, and healing outside of carceral systems. Alexandra Magallon, cast member of Transmutation: A Ceremony, testified: “Mirror Memoirs has done for me, spiritually, what many churches, doctors, healers, service providers, therapists haven’t...I don’t think I would be here today if it wasn’t for you.” Her words reflect the restoration our work provides - filling gaps left by systems that often retraumatize rather than heal. During this panel we'll hear from facilitators and participants of some of our most beloved programs across the past decade.
This panel will platform our Core Members to share how Mirror Memoirs has impacted them, their experiences of our programming, and what their vision is for a world without child sexual abuse.
